As
we begin 2008, I wanted to say how much I look forward to the New Year.
I want to thank the 2007 Officer's and Board members for their hard
work this past year - TDC is in good financial condition and new
membership was a high priority in 2007.
I
want to tell you about my goals for 2008. I want to continue the
emphasis on new members, and at the same time, always remembering that
our existing members are also important. It is my goal to have each of
us obtain from their membership in TDC everything that they can and
have as much fun with all the exciting events and activities that we
have planned for 2008.
I
know that training is the gateway to new members and it will continue
to receive its high priority. However, I also want to have time for
members to be able to simply enjoy themselves and dive with your dive
buddy without having to always be involved with training classes. Just
have some fun and dive with friends. I understand that some may not
feel that diving in Texas lakes would be considered "fun",
but it can certainly be a learning time for such skills as buoyancy
control and working with your underwater navigation.
The
December meeting was a lot of fun with the White Whale - Chinese
Christmas Gift Exchange Party and in January we will have our annual
Awards Party to recognize members who have contributed significantly to
the TDC success in 2007.
I
know many of you very well. I have been a TDC member for almost 25
years. My other main interest is that I am the immediate Past Commander
of VFW Post 8627 in Richardson for the past three consecutive years. I
am presently serving as the Post's Quartermaster (Chief Financial
Officer). But the Post's functions are on different dates and should
not present any conflicts for me.
I
look forward to an exciting year in 2008 and to seeing as many of you
as possible at the Awards Party in January. If you need to contact me
